Illustration Friday - 'Sink'

(didnt have time to colour this one fully)

Illustration Friday - Separated

new work

a small selection of some of the things I've done towards my final degree assessment

a little two page panelled narrative and two spreads from the book I have been making

prehistoric

I havent done Illustration Friday for ages now, so i thought id do one this week. Also, i had free time as i havent been sleeping much lately. The topic is 'prehistoric' and i immediately thought 'pterodactyls'. i dont know why.

I love my Pterodactyls

But it's harder than you think

To keep them fit and healthy

When they're already extinct

monoprint, pencil, watercolour, acrylic

new new new

I'm sick of the sight of my front page at the minute, so i thought it was time i put new work up.

A quick character sketch i did in about an hour, didnt really have anything planned, just got some reference together and started drawing. i think it came out ok

dead men...

tell no tales
I.F

the king of teeth

dessert

dessert, just thought id have fun with it.
ink , watercolour

atmosphere

he breathes the flies,

and they swarm around him

his own hellish atmosphere

crawling about his head

caged

ok so its not really caged, more tied or grabbed or restrained. i was gonna paint a criss cross of bars on top of the picture but i didnt want to ruin it.

acrylic,pen and ink

artificial heart - ticking clock

the original drawing and the ink and watercolour coloured version

double face

one man, and two fake faces

thought id do this pretty quick, got lots of work to be getting on with.

its a pretty bad scan, i tried to colour correct a bit in photoshop.
pen, ink, acrylic, watercolour.

sketchbooks

so iv been working on some bookbinding lately as well, thought id post a few photos i had lying around of the sketchbooks iv made recently.

the photos arent too great lol.

breakfast eyes

its 6 am,
i havent slept,
im tired.

and i want some eggs.

ok this is a really bad scan, i didnt realise until i uploaded it and clicked the big version.
pen and ink and watercolour. it was actually 6 in the morning when i did this, and i actually was desperate for breakfast lol

pig

been trying out a wash method for colouring my ink drawings.

its time consuking but pretty fun.

satellite

tried to do something a bit different for this one. im interested in the way the title of a book or film can suggest so many different routes for a story, and how just making up a title, not creating the narrative inside, but using an image to suggest a certain story or theme can make for an interesting image.

i think the image is a bit too dark, still working on my confidence using colours.

pencil, brush pen, photoshop

paisley

illustration friday

pencil, gouache, masking tape, photoshop.

attempting digital colour

well i cant seem to get any results i want with paint and brush, so iv started trying to add a touch of colour to my drawings on photoshop. not sure about the final outcome though.

floating crown

done from photo reference.

new pencil page

working on anatomy. really dont like the face in the background though. im trying at the moment to introduce more colour into my work.
